Question Nine:

What can a couple do on the day of their wedding to ensure that it runs smoothly and meets their expectations? What type of input do you need from them on the day?

Weddings Planners Tips - No. 9

Wedding Planners Answers:

They should try not to worry too much about their guests (older family members with disabilities, the heat, difficult children.) because we are there for them too. I know that a wedding abroad is not as easy (logistics, hotels, towns.. all is new to the guests) which is why we are always around and speaking to the guests.

Basically, they should relax and trust us. after the wedding we always have a meeting and tell them the complete wedding day from our point of view. It is funny how many things / small issues have gone unnoticed by the couple. They are always surprised when I tell them what happened and we have a laugh together.. That's why you need a wedding planner!

This is always a difficult question because what you really need is for them to stay calm and this is often, understandably, too much to ask! I would say:

  • stay focussed on what is important,
  • ensure the people that understand you the best and can help calm you are there with you,
  • accept that nothing in life is perfect and everyone in your team will be doing their very best to make this a wonderful day.

If everything is organised by the wedding planner, the couple needs to turn up at their wedding and just enjoy the best day of their lives!

On the day there is very little that the couple need to do apart from relax and enjoy the wedding. If the couple have a good best man who is organised and calm then this is a great help. The wedding planner will be on hand throughout the day to ensure things run smoothly.

Return to Question Eight

Do you like to meet your clients before the wedding day? Is a couple of days before satisfactory or would you prefer to be able to meet with them earlier in the planning process?
