Stephanie & Jason’s
Wedding in Dubrovnik

There is no better way to judge a company than by hearing what past clients have to say…

In trying to decide on a Wedding Planner for their upcoming wedding in Dubrovnik, Vanessa and Steve very wisely contacted couples who had been married in Croatia. After hearing about Stephanie and Jason’s wedding, planned by Weddings in Dubrovnik, Vanessa and Steve knew that they had definitely found their Wedding Planner.

Hi Stephanie and Jason

I hope you don't mind us emailing but we are thinking about having our wedding in Dubrovnik next summer and Steve and Sanela (www.weddingsindubrovnik.com) have given us your details so we can pick your brains! I hope this isn't too much of a hassle - we're in the process of deciding which planners to go for so thought it would be best to speak to the people with the experience.

Would you recommend using Steve and Sanela and is there anything you would do differently at all in how you had your day? We like the look of the Sponza Palace for the ceremony venue and are planning to go out for a long weekend in March next year to organise the dinner and evening do ourselves.

If you don't mind us asking, approximately how much did you end up spending on your dinner and evening do (for how many people), and where did you go?

Once again, hope I'm not being too nosey - we just need the low-down!

Oh, and congratulations on getting married!

Kind regards,

Vanessa and Steve

Stephanie’s Reply to Vanessa and Steve

Hi Vanessa & Steve,

I’m not really sure where to start but I will say that the services which Steve & Sanela provided were invaluable and we would have no hesitation in recommending them to everyone.

The day was amazing; all of our guests were genuinely saying it was the best wedding they’d ever been to. It’s all of the personal touches that they helped with, ideas that you may never have thought off. There’s also the language barrier which is tough and all the legal paperwork, we didn’t have to worry about anything. Steve guided us through all of the legal steps required in the UK and over in Croatia. There is so much paperwork we would not have had a clue where to start.

We flew over twice, once in November last year, which is when we met Steve. He was introduced to us by a Croatian friend from Dubrovnik. His two cousin’s Ivana & Nikolina both work with him, a good recommendation. We instantly liked him and loved his ideas and pretty much decided over those few days the whole wedding day and all the venues. We paid deposits for the Sponza and the Bellevue Hotel to secure our bookings then had 7 months to decide on the rest. The old town is probably the most romantic place on the planet in our opinion and the Sponza Palace just looks beautiful when Steve’s team have dressed it!

We had a champagne boat trip to take our guests from the Sponza round to the beach terrace of the Hotel Bellevue, where we had our reception. We had 36 guests in total which was an ideal number for us as we could afford to choose a more expensive menu, nicer wine and bubbles!!

Steve sent us the hotel menu options and we made our own menu from mixing and matching, the cost was 85 euros per head plus 6 euros per head for the wedding cake. We had 12 bottles of champagne for toasting, 40 bottles of wine and 40 bottles of water, and total for all food and wine approx 3,880 euros. One thing to be careful of is that the wine and champagne costs around 70 euros a bottle if you have it directly from the hotel, where as we went wine tasting with Steve and he supplied all of ours for 18 euros a bottle with corkage, this saves you so much money, and to be honest pays for the planner!!!

We flew back over in April this year and Steve introduced us to the florist, who was great, we emailed ideas for bouquets, button holes and table decorations back and forward, the end result was perfect! We described how we wanted the Sponza to look and she added all the extras at no additional cost. Steve also introduced us to a friend who owned a restaurant; we sat with him until the early hours sampling loads of different wines for the reception. The whole experience was so much fun and Steve as ever was so easy to deal with. Jordan the photographer is superb; our wedding shots are shot beautifully and so untraditional. It’s not surprising though with a back drop like Dubrovnik.

One criticism was on occasion we felt like a spare parts as everything was so organised we didn’t have much to do! As you can probably tell we loved our day and have made a good friend in Steve. We would say go for it you won’t regret it, we just want to do ours all over again, as do our guests!

I hope this helps.

Steph & Jason x
