Choosing your Wedding Destination Abroad

Choose the perfect wedding destination abroad.

Obviously if you want to get married abroad choosing your wedding destination has to be at the top of your ‘to do’ list.

Choose the perfect wedding destination abroad

Like us the country and location of your wedding abroad may be an obvious choice.

Or you may be in the situation where you know what country would like to get married but don’t know what area to choose. If you love Italy for example, should you get married in Tuscany or on the Amalfi Coast?

Or do you just love the idea of having a Beach Wedding but have no idea what stretch of lovely white sand should play host to your wedding?

When choosing your wedding destination abroad there is no substitute for research. Research the country or countries you would like to get married in, ask family & friends, visit tourist sites, tourist boards or speak to travel agents.

As a starting point to help you narrow down the perfect wedding destination use my month by month Wedding Abroad Destination Guide.

The weddings abroad guide provides information on European Wedding Destinations. If you live in the United Kingdom or Ireland I believe Continental Europe is the perfect destination for a wedding abroad. Click here to read why.

When choosing your destination make sure you fully research and understand what the legal requirements are to get married in a particular country. It is vitally important you are fully aware of the legal requirements and are confident you can satisfy them before you make your final destination choice.

In the countries covered in the weddings abroad guide information on legal requirements is provided. However, I would strongly advise you contact the local Embassy or Consulate of the country you would like to get married in to confirm the details. This issue is too important not to get the information first hand.

Another important consideration in choosing your destination is to consider the type and style of wedding you would like to have. Would you like to have a small, medium or large wedding? Is it important to you to be surrounded by family and friends on your wedding day or do you want a small intimate affair?

The further away from home your wedding destination is, the more likely you will have a lower guest acceptance rate. If you choose a destination closer to home, it will be less expensive and may be easier for your guests to travel to. Real Experiences

"You can never start booking or planning too early. We spent months just looking on the web at locations and doing some research. You can find your dream location if you look hard enough so don't settle for the easiest option - you can do something really different and amazing so keep looking and it will be worth it".
