"The location, the backdrops, the happy moments, the sad moments, the best man's speech..... I never know what images I’m going to capture when I turn up at a wedding and I never know what kind of story I'm going to be a part of. This is why I love my job".

Hayden Phoenix is a professional photographer from New Zealand and has been living and working in London since 2003. With 16 years in the industry Hayden combines his unique experience in fashion and portraiture with his subtle and relaxed shooting style, allowing the story to unfold of its own accord.

"I was never really interested in an alternative to fashion photography until I shot my first wedding. It was then that I discovered that weddings have it all, but the number one difference is that it's all gloriously REAL! The characters, the clothing, the hair and make up, the drama (oh yeah, there's lots of that) ...it's all there and it's all happening without the aid of a storyboard. This is why I love shooting weddings"

In Hayden's opinion the story begins as soon as everyone wakes up... "if you want me there shooting while you're having breakfast with the bridal party then I'll be there. The service, the portraits, the first dance...these are a given but it's the moments in between where the magic is to be captured...if you'll let me, that's where I want to be!"

We can't recommend Hayden enough - he was so professional and creative on our wedding day. As he had never worked at our venue before, he took the time to visit with us before our special day to scout out some good locations for photos. He had some great suggestions, and we're so pleased with the results.

We had an amazing day, and Hayden's relaxed style meant that we could enjoy it, without feeling like someone was shoving a camera in our faces every 5 minutes. Yet he caught all the special moments that I thought no-one had noticed (and some that even I didn't notice). We got a great mix of posed and reportage photos that really capture the spirit of the day.

In the run up to the day, Hayden answered all my numerous emails promptly, and even asked me to send in pictures that I liked so he could get a feel for the kind of photographs we wanted. He's a very

talented photographer, and all our guests commented on how at ease they felt having their picture taken.
